Danny Tenaglia

Danny Tenaglia is a d.j.’s d.j. For decades, his marathon events at Winter Music Conference, a club-business confab in Miami, drew every other headliner in the vicinity. But this New York native—who hasn’t had a residency here in years—is also a fan’s d.j. His sure hand on the decks and his taste for house and techno at their most darkly dramatic can make converts of nonbelievers while also drawing regulars from his glory days at Twilo (in the late nineties) and Vinyl (in the early two-thousands). Few d.j.s carry off multiple hours with his élan; a Tenaglia all-nighter feels as much sculpted as selected. At Sunset Park Rooftop, on June 10, he offers a six-hour set in an appearance for the promoters Open Air Brooklyn—although, for Tenaglia, six hours is akin to a warmup.
